I found this article today: The Flight From Conversation , H/T to Tim Challies .  It seems as we continue to become more "connected" we are losing the richness that comes from true connection. I have been thinking about the first few questions that we ask the princesses about God. 1. Who made you? - God 2. What else did He make? - Everything 3. Why did He make you and everything else? - For His Glory These three things break down the Chief Aim of Man which is to Glorify God by Enjoying Him Forever . I have had a few chanced this week to talk about this with friends, strangers, an family.  It is a difficult thing to wrap your head around.  I struggle with it... a lot.  The idea that the earth is the Lord's and everything in it, I should be ok when things don't look the way I want. What does it mean to Glorify God by enjoying Him?  How does that look?  What about my situation? If it is all His, then where do I fit? Those are tough thoughts.  What do you think?  How do you live a life that shows your absolute reliance on Him? - God's Man PS.  I will share my thoughts in the next post.

I say listening instead of watching because the door to the studio is closed too keep the people who walk by can't see them in their leotards. I told my bride, the queen, that dance class was her thing and that I would not be taking them. I wanted them in martial arts or swim class. I knew better though. I have begun reading two books by Thabiti Anyabwile The Decline of African American Theology: From Biblical Faith to Cultural Captivity and The Faithful Preacher: Recapturing the Vision of Three Pioneering African-American Pastors . The first book is a fusion of a history book and a work of Systematic Theology. In it he walks us through history looking at the change in the way we understand, teach, and experience God. The thing that I am enjoying the most, however, are the profiles of black pastors who were there during key moments in the history of this country. My Great Aunt Irene passed away on February 23, 2012 at the age of 85 years old. When I found out she had passed it was a surreal moment. I was attending an assembly for my oldest daughter after having spent the morning with my Parents, my Aunt and my Grandmother. Dad and I had said that we were going to go over and visit with Aunt Irene after the assembly. So there I was standing out in the hallway as my Dad gave me the news. Once my mother and I had gathered my daughter my Dad and I left to go to the house to be with the family that was quickly gathering there. As a family we prayed along with her Pastor. I was being stoic. Trying to be there for everyone. Be Strong. Then my cousin came to me and said that my Aunt wanted me to give the eulogy. After saying that I would I was caught in a wave of emotion and began to cry. As I sat outside of Aunt Irene's bedroom in the sitting room I cried because I couldn't believe that she was gone.
