God's Man | Most Important Week Of The Year...

I spoke to the my family at Living Hope Church this past Sunday.  I shared with them that this week is the Most Important Week of the Year.  Let me share the passage, taken from Hebrews, that we talked about.
We have much to say about this, but it is hard to explain because you are slow to learn.  In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God's word all over again.  You need milk, not solid food!  Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness.  But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.

Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity... - Hebrews 5:11-6:1a
Here Paul is admonishing the Church that they have begun to fall away and have cannot grow because they are still struggling with the elementary things.  We are not talking about folks who are new believers.  We are talking about Christians who, Paul felt, should have been teachers themselves (vv 11).

My question is, where are you in your walk today.  There is one more week in 2010 and I know that this is the most important week for all of us.  While we might be inclined to slow down, anticipating another holiday weekend, we should take one more look at the goals for 2010 and see if we can place one more point on the scoreboard.

For me this week marks the completion of my family's 1st 10 year plan.  Back in 1998 I created a 10 year plan which I started in 1999.  In it I thought about what I wanted to accomplish.  I am excited to say that by 2009 I had done most of them.  Two of which were things I would never have thought possible.
  1. Going to Work for one of the big 2 video game companies (Team SEGA for life!)
  2. Getting my poetry published. (One piece was published as part of a poetry contest.)
Some other even more awesome things were there, getting married and having children were chief amongst them.  So after my year of Jubilee from Goal setting I went back to the drawing board.  What will our family look like over the next 10 years.  What will our ministry look like?  Financially, where do we want to be?  Physically, will I still be eating donuts in the morning and drinking egg nog late at night. ;)

You get the idea.  So my Challenge to you is to dust off the goals for 2010, pick something that you can accomplish, or modify one, this week.  Pray and ask God for the focus to get it done. AND. DO. IT.

Looking forward to a great 2011 and praying for your continued growth and reliance on God.

Go GO GO!!!!
