God's Man

Tonight I will be praying for Unity in the body of Christ.  The insitution of marriage is something that touches all facets of society.  It reaches across political lines.  It crosses denominations.  It even bridges theologies.  It reminds us that we are meant to be united together as God's children for his Glory.  The scripture I will be praying referencing is Psalm 133.  This is a very short Psalm, only 3 verses.  It is a song of ascents.  The people are coming together and they are realizing how awesome it is to be one people united. How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!  It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron's beard, down upon the collar of his robes.  It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore. (Psalm 133:1-3 NIV84) As we pray together I want to share what God is saying to us as stand united together. Father ...

There has always been a distinction between people that are considered nerds and those that are called creatives.  Growing up they fell into 2 distinct camps, the artists and the geeks.  I fell squarely into the geek category.  Surrounded by books, taking apart radios and toys, even getting my first programming book at the age of 8.  Being a nerd/geek defined me and I was OK with that.  The artists were something that at the time seemed very alien to me.  That was until I actually experienced it.  Drawing, painting, sculpting, even sewing stopped being magic, became something tangible and I loved it. I found this article today: The Flight From Conversation , H/T to Tim Challies .  It seems as we continue to become more "connected" we are losing the richness that comes from true connection. I have been thinking about the first few questions that we ask the princesses about God. 1. Who made you? - God 2. What else did He make? - Everything 3. Why did He make you and everything else? - For His Glory These three things break down the Chief Aim of Man which is to Glorify God by Enjoying Him Forever . I have had a few chanced this week to talk about this with friends, strangers, an family.  It is a difficult thing to wrap your head around.  I struggle with it... a lot.  The idea that the earth is the Lord's and everything in it, I should be ok when things don't look the way I want. What does it mean to Glorify God by enjoying Him?  How does that look?  What about my situation? If it is all His, then where do I fit? Those are tough thoughts.  What do you think?  How do you live a life that shows your absolute reliance on Him? - God's Man PS.  I will share my thoughts in the next post.

Tonight Princess Mini came in saying that she was afraid of the dark. She wanted to know if she could sleep with us. It is at these moments that we as parents shape them. Being a parent is a awesome responsibility. I don't mean that in Dude, that is AWESOME kind of way. I mean it inspires awe. It shakes you to your core. It should...
