Just One Step Away...

I was sitting in court the other day, hoping to get defensive driving, and God took me to Matthew 25:1-13. I have read the story of the Ten Virgins before and I really loved the adaptation that Prv31 was in at our church during the summer. I was ready with pen and paper to talk about, always being ready for God's return but God always takes me in a different direction. Follow Me:

"At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. "

Here we have 10 people who have planned, prepared, and executed so that they might acheive their chief aim in life. I know that in today's "enlightened" world marriage is characterized as more of a burden than a blessing. However during this time getting married was one of the highest honors one could have. Especially if the Husband-to-be is wealthy, good-looking, etc... So they were ready. Each had planned well.

Five of them were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. The wise, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps.

There are always going to be those who are wise and those who are foolish. The question is, "Which are You?" Do you rush headlong into something but have nothing to cushion you if you fall? Or Do you build up resourses to insulate you from certain disasters. There are always going to be obstacles in your way but how do you handle them. Even though they all prepared well and were qualified 5 of the brides-to-be did not prepare well. Notice that all filled their lamps with oil but 5 virgins did one thing more.

Point #1 You Are One Step Away From Your Blessing
Sometimes it is just the one thing you do extra that will make all the diference. Never let the charge be laid at your feet that you don't go the extra mile. This attribute is what makes America great and most importantly it is how God is. He never gives us just enough He gives, "exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think..." (Ephesians 3:20)

God's Man | Portrait of a Godly Man
