Words From The Road
Two weeks along the path and God has already done some amazing things in our lives. During this time I asked you to find God in different places and I wanted to share one of my favorite reminders of God. When you enter the neighborhood where I live, one of my cousins, has these two trees planted in his front yard. They are both mature trees, big and strong with deep roots and branches that reach into the sky. They are the same type of tree. Every year around this time they get the same pretty flowers along the branches. Then they fill with leaves and become full. One day while walking through the neighborhood I took a serious look at these trees. Both trees had branches that reach up into the sky but for some reason the branches on one of the trees stick up in the air. I thought this was peculiar until I was reminded of these verses, one from the 1st chapter of Romans,
"But the basic reality of God is plain enough. Open your eyes and there it is! By taking a long and thoughtful look at what God has created, people have always been able to see what their eyes as such can't see: eternal power, for instance, and the mystery of his divine being. So nobody has a good excuse." -Romans 1:20 Msg.
The second verse is from Luke chapter 19,
"If they kept quiet, the stones would do it for them, shouting praise." –Luke19:40 Msg
After thinking on these verses I named this tree the praise tree. When I see those branches pointing up to the one who brings the sunshine and rain I can imagine this tree crying out to God. And if a tree can do it so can I.
Keep walking along the path because God is there and He will walk with you.
