A couple of years ago I bought Where the Sidewalk Ends" by Shel Silverstein  for Princess Mighty.  It is a collection of poems and drawings that I remember finding at the library in my elementary school.  She has been carrying this book around and reading the poems and commenting on the drawings.  I love the fact that she loves to read and write.  As someone who reads like crazy and fights my way through NaNoWriMo every year I want my children to enjoy being creative. Here is one of my favorites from way back then.
